Sandals Royal Plantation-Day 1

Hi Everyone!

The next few days, I will be in Ocho Rios, Jamaica for some meetings.  Rough life, I know:)   Today was as close to a perfect travel day as they come.  I flew out of MDT, and was upgraded to 1st Class on both of my flights to Jamaica.  Flights were fairly smooth and on time.  Customs and baggage went quickly and I went to the Sandals Lounge, which is a complimentary service/benefit for Sandals/Beaches guests.  You can sit in the air conditioned lounge, grab a drink and go to the restroom while you are waiting for your transfer.  I was waiting for about 10 minutes tops before I was called out to my private car to go to Sandals Royal Plantation.  This resort was the famed Royal Plantation until it became part of the Sandals brand on Oct. 1st.  I am here for meetings with managers, sales staff and also to assess to changes for you our valued clients.

This resort is a boutique like resort with less than 80 rooms.  All rooms have Butler Service and this resort is especially known for it's excellent food and service.  This resort is not for persons who want a lot of activities, who want loud music and who want a ton of entertainment late at night.  It is a more intimate and romantic type of atmosphere.

Anyways, Sandals Royal Plantation guests either have private or semi private airport transfers.  I had Melbourne as my driver and he was excellent.  I felt quite safe the entire time and he also offered me the choice of water, beer or soda along the way.  After a quick 90 minute ride, I was greeted warmly at the resort lobby, was offered a cool towel, drink, etc.  Lots of "Welcome Home" greetings were shared and I was amazed at how many staff membered remembered me from my last visit:)  My Butler escorted me to my Suite and I was truly shocked and amazed.  I am in the Prime Minister Suite, which is room 357.  The Suite consists of two patios, a huge shower and whirlpool tub area, living room, 2 flat screen tvs, and many other features.  The room is tastefully appointed and the bedding is plush and luxurious.  They use Molten Brown bath products, which is a treat for me as well.

I had a very late lunch of vegetable spring rolls and jerk chicken at the Beach Grill.  I took a walk around the resort and noted a few of the new touches-ads about some of Sandals programs, some of the Sandals Lifestyle products in the gift shop and the addition of Activity Hosts. I am also noticing that more music is being played around the resort, wheareas before it was more quiet.  I did some work on one of my patios (there is a lounge bed of sorts on it, so comfortable) and the internet works great. I scheduled a spa treatment for tomorrow and checked out the gift shop.  This is a very compact resort so it does not take a long time, to tour it.

Dinner was on the Terrace and consisted of corn salad (yum!) and a cajun chicken dish with vegetables and rice.  This resort is known for top quality meat and vegetables and tonight was no exception.

Back in the room, Orayne left rose petals and chocolates on my bed as part of their special turndown Butler service.  I am tired but am very happy to be here and so far, this has been a very impressive trip.  Tomorrow I am going to Couples Tower Isle and look forward to sharing more of my trip with you.  Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more!   Smiles,  Amy
